How to get to Tomato Rome
Via Cesare Balbo 4, rione Monti — an eight-minute walk from Termini station.
From Fiumicino airport
Leonardo Express. The simplest way: direct train to Termini in 32 minutes, every quarter of an hour, €14. From Termini it is an eight-minute walk to us. Remember to validate your ticket before boarding.
FL1 regional trains. They cost €8 but do not stop at Termini: they leave you at Tiburtina or Ostiense and you have to take the metro. Not worth it with luggage.
Low-cost buses. Terravision and the other companies leave from Terminal 3 and arrive in via Giolitti, beside Termini: from €4, 45-55 minutes depending on traffic.
Taxi. There is a flat fare of €55 from Fiumicino to the centre inside the Aurelian Walls — and we are inside. It is per car: it covers all passengers, luggage and every surcharge. Only take white taxis from the official ranks.
From Ciampino airport
By bus. Terravision and the other companies leave from outside Departures and reach Termini in 40-45 minutes, from €6.
By taxi. From Ciampino too there is a flat fare: €40 to the centre inside the Aurelian Walls, everything included, in about half an hour.
From Termini station
It is an eight-minute walk, a little over six hundred metres, all flat. Come out of the main exit onto piazza dei Cinquecento, cross it towards the right, take via Massimo D’Azeglio and then via Torino: via Cesare Balbo is the first on the left.
If you arrive on the airport buses in via Giolitti, which is the opposite side, walk along the station: it is two minutes more. The nearest metro to us is not Termini but Repubblica, on line A, five minutes away.
By car: mind the ZTL
We are inside the Centro Storico ZTL, and the nearest gate is fifty metres away. The restricted hours are Monday to Friday from 6.30am to 6pm and Saturday from 2pm to 6pm. Outside those windows you can drive in freely.
If you really must arrive during the closed hours, write to us first: we will tell you how to handle it. A ZTL fine starts at eighty euros, better to avoid it.
For parking: blue lines inside the ZTL cost €1.20 an hour. Alternatively there are attended garages behind piazza della Repubblica, outside the limited traffic zone.
Getting around the city
The ATAC ticket is called BIT, costs €1.50 and lasts 100 minutes on buses and trams, with a single metro entry. You can also tap a contactless card at the turnstile.
If you are staying a few days: 24 hours €8.50, 48 hours €15, 72 hours €22, weekly €29.
Two things to know. The last metro leaves at 11.30pm, at 1.30am on Fridays and Saturdays: after that there are the night buses, the lines with an n in front. And in 2026 most trams are replaced by buses because of works, at least until November: do not make plans around the tram.
