From Turin to Rome
Two cities, two Tomato hostels and a direct train of just over four hours.
Tomato Urban Retreat has two houses: in Turin, in San Salvario, since 2011, and in Rome, in the Monti district, since June 2026. In both cities the high-speed station is a few minutes away on foot.
The journey
- Direct Frecciarossa from Torino Porta Nuova to Rome: just over 4 hours, with 32 connections a day according to Trenitalia (the timetable changes at weekends and at some times of year)
- From Tomato Turin to Porta Nuova: less than ten minutes on foot
- From Roma Termini to Tomato Rome: nine minutes on foot
An itinerary idea
Three nights in Turin and three in Rome. In Turin, the Cinema Museum inside the Mole, the Porta Palazzo market and the Valentino Park; in Rome, the Colosseum, the streets of Monti and Trastevere. The places we actually go to are in our two guides: Turin guide and Rome guide.
What differs between the two houses
- Turin: city tax of €1 per person per night, up to 7 nights; reception 8 am to 8 pm, then you come in with your code
- Rome: no city tax, because we are a youth hostel; reception 8 am to midnight
- Both: shared kitchen open 24 hours, coworking for guests, card payments only
